Thanks for your advice. That’s good to hear from someone who has been through Rosetta and knows its strength and weakness. I’m still learning, and maybe I’m not challenging enough. I have a difficult time motivating myself to try new things. I’m looking forward to more advanced lessons on Simplified Chinese. I’m also interested in the Cantonese and Korean ones.
I tried Rosetta Stone a few months back for over a month. I sensed a lot of promise in the product but ultimately the amount of time for the updates failed to keep up with the rate at which I was learning. It’s not totally their fault; it’s more a result of the influx of new lisheimers all the time. I remember when Rosetta Stone first rolled out, there was a huge spike in the number of new lishemrs on the site, and many users were new to the site. And despite the fact that the product is free to use, they have to earn their income off the people who use their products. Like every other business, they are trying to balance the free users with those who pay to learn. So, they really need to think of ways to reward their high-engagement users.
Thanks for the feedback. I’ll think about that but, I’m not sure about the two different levels of Rosetta Stone. Honestly, if I could spend a month on-the-road learning Spanish, I would do it. How is the level-up process? It feels like a lot for something free. Also, do you think there are enough free podcasts to go along with this?
I’m not sure if I’ll really learn Spanish anywhere other than just learning in my car. I listen to Spanish music, some trashy comedy, and the occasional language “podcast.” The reason I am interested in Spanish is because it’s the language that I grew up speaking, and it’s the number one selling language of the world right now. a4e618e0b4
